ABUSE NEGLECT & CRUELTY . . .
In Memory of Star
Buried Alive for 14 Hours
Star a female dog was found shot, bound and buried alive in Ghar Hasan Malta in May 19, 2011.
She spent 14 hours buried alive.
Whimpering, she poked her nose through the soil of the grave, which managed to save her life.
The dog was rescued the next day by officers of the Animal Welfare Department .Such was the cruelty
inflicted on the dog that she had a gunshot wound on the side of her head and all her limbs were tied.
She was operated and more than 40 gunshot pellets were removed from the wound, along with pieces of plastic.
"Star showed what a courageous caring, sweet, loving companion she is. [...] Star is living it up to her name already and is doing her very utmost to make it through this heartbreaking situation...Even though Star witnessed and lived all this cruelty from a human being she never even spared us a menacing look or a growl, she just looked at us in gratitude!!" the Animal Welfare Department said.
She passed away on June 6 from an acute inflammation of the pancreas, barely 24 hours after hundreds rallied in a Protest against Animal cruelty sparked by her story.
A special thanks goes to The Malta Police Force for solving this case.
Although a sentence has been given for Star's ordeal, we are continuing to urge people to sign and reshare this petition so that Star's ordeal and that of many other animals that have suffered over the years at the hands of abusers, will finally give way to the better protection and well being of all animals today and in the future.
NOTE: The Angels that rescued Star from a cruel death. Alone, buried alive. The Officers of the Animal Welfare Department and the Vets
who saved her life. Let her see the love, kindness, compassion and caring in life. R.I.P Dear Star ~ Dawn Groth ~
In Memory of Sweet Charity
These innocent beautiful puppies were bred by a man intending to fight them and/or sell
them to dogfighters but the reason for their surrender was that he caught his 13 year old
son committing sexual acts on them. The shelter was going to euthanize the dogs, however,
a rescue group stepped in to try to save them. They were named Charity, Hope and Faith.
This Petition aims to bring justice to Charity who did not survive her injury by this perverted
boy and although Hope and Faith have a long road ahead with many surgeries to correct
the damage Charity's death cannot be in vain without any justice.
The Angels in this story are those from the Rescue group, who stepped in to save these dogs lives. And although successful with one. Charity's
death would not be in vain, if a Law making such crimes a felony would come of it. Her 2 siblings Hope & Faith, now know love, kindness and caring
and have been saved a life of misery in dog fighting. Another crime against animals. ~ Dawn Groth ~

Teen Nearly Decapitates his Dog
Mutilated Dog Passes Away/Brings Focus to Animal Cruelty News Central Staff
Story Updated: Jul 27, 2011 at 10:51 PM EDT
The mutilated dog known as Hope has passed away. Hope was picked up by Shane and Janet Smith from the local pound.she was severely emaciated and had an electrical cord around what was left of her neck. Her trachea cord was severed and she had megaesphagus.
"I got the dog and put her in the car and took her straight to Caldwell's and then we talked with him a little bit about could she be saved since she's made it so far. Monday morning we went up there and she had just played, with one of the girls and we was pretty happy because we thought it was going to be a good day and then around noon they called us and said that her breathing had gotten so bad that they put her on oxygen and she was unconscious so that was pretty much it, her body just gave up on her." -Shane Smith/Hope's Adopted Owner
Prior to Shane adopting her, Hope had been tied to a tree with an electrical cord allegedly by her previous owner and when she arrived at the pound she was nearly decapitated.
19 year old Monterion Davis was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after an investigation found he was responsible for nearly decapitating hope. There is an online petition available through Hope's Facebook page to give Davis the maximum sentence for his crimes.
Now the canine named Hope is at final rest but the hope of ending animal cruelty lives on through all that hear her story.
NOTE: Shane & Janet Smith became Hope's Angels when they rescued her from the dog pound nearly decapitated. Hope was given a chance.
And thankfully, the last thing Hope experienced in life, was kindness, compassion, love and caring!
What I would like to know however, is what this poor thing was doing in a Dog Pound in the first place! And why not immediately taken to a Vet?

Hope was Given a Chance
Savage Brutality of 2 day old Puppy in Bulgaria
It happened on 28 July, 2011 in Varna, Bulgaria, that beautiful seaside city with the highest rate of animal cruelty crimes! Ms.Valentina Veleva was at work, when she heard cry for help. She went outside and discovered a newborn puppy in a plastic bag, dumped at the nearest rubbish bin. She took it, went to the office and when opened the bag she was shocked- all four legs and puppy’s tail have been chopped off! She rushed the pup to the nearest vet’s surgery. The vet in charge decided to give it a chance and treated it’s wounds. Ms.Veleva named the little darling Victor. She was hoping for a miracle. On the second day Victor felt quite well and was eating. He had a strong appetite. On the third day his little body gave in and he crossed peacefully the Rainbow Bridge!
I am writing this with a heavy heart and can not understand why such unimaginable cruelty towards totally innocent and helpless little animals? Bulgaria has a modern Animal Protection Law. The important amendment of the Penal Code, which incriminates cruelty to animals has been enforced on 27 July, 2011. This was a vital step for Bulgarian people to join the civilized nations and to uphold high moral values. It becomes now Bulgarian authorities’ moral duty to deal with the criminals accordingly- to catch and reform them.
Let’s hope that little Victor’s savage murderer will be caught and brought to JUSTICE!
Let’s hope that this time we will not send the wrong message that cruelty to animals is ok.
Because it is not! "
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the it’s animals are treated”. Mahatma Gandi
I do see one bright spot in this horrid atrocity! An Angel named Ms. Valentina Veleva, who rescued the puppy from dying alone in a garbage bag.
And a vet, caring enough to try and give the poor little thing a chance. So that in the end, the puppy, got to know the touch of kindness, love and
caring before he crossed. ~ Dawn Groth ~
